Wherever you travel in the Empire, monuments peer down on you. They stand to commemorate figures from history, great events, or just the aesthetic tastes of a wealthy noble. Many a bustling market square, street corner, bridge, or gatehouse features a statue or some work of public art. Even in the remotest places, folk of lesser means erect crude standing stones or carved wooden memorials. While most of these are just what they seem, a handful hold secrets at which the casual observer may only guess.

Thank you all so much for your excitement and enthusiasm for the Enemy Within Campaign and Death on the Reik. We appreciate your patience while we’re getting the last few parts polished for release - the PDF should be released this month. We understand that the wait is frustrating, especially when we’ve passed anticipated release dates, so we wanted to give you more detail about the process.

A few weeks ago we got our first look at the draft layout and noticed some areas that required additional illustrations to complement the text. As you know, we put a lot of effort and resources into the illustration and graphic design of our books. We all take in information in a range of ways, and evocative illustrations are an important part of communicating the look and feel of the worlds we present. Having said that, we also have to balance the amount of artwork it is possible to present.

Clive started playing WFRP virtually the day it came out, back in 1986 and has contributed to the second, third and fourth editions of the RPG, as well as the officially unofficial Warpstone magazine and so is an excellent source of information!

Colourful Magic

For this article I’m having a look at magic in WFRP and ways to bring its distinctive tone to the gaming table. Any game is going to be enhanced by a GM who can convey some of the unpredictability of the Winds of Chaos, and by a Wizard player who can convey some of the otherworldliness of their profession.

To my mind, the colours of magic are one of the most interesting aspects of the entire Warhammer mythology. Having these wild flows of magic rippling barely beneath the surface of the world is a wonderful tool for bringing a sense of unknowable power, and often insurmountable fear, to the game.

Town Mansion Adventure Hooks

The final chapter of Rough Nights and Hard Days took place in a noble’s town house, and your Characters may have occasion to visit similar grand homes in the course of their adventures. If and when they do, here are some adventure hooks to liven things up a little!

Castle Adventure Hooks

Hi All, Schloss Grauenberg, featured in Rough Nights and Hard Days, is a typical example of the sort of small-to-medium sized castle owned by members of the Empire’s nobility. Here are some adventure hooks to use in a similar location.

Uprising

Disgruntled after years of heavy taxes and other oppressions, the peasants of an area have rebelled. They captured the local castle, and their liege lord barely escaped. The adventurers are hired to identify the leaders of the rebellion and bring them to justice, but it will not be easy. The castle is strong; at least one of the rebels has some military
