Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound, Ulfenkarn: City at the Edge of Death Player Archetypes

It’s another #MortalRealmsMonday here at Cubicle 7. Today we’re thrilled to share another sneak preview of our upcoming expansion to the Age of Sigmar: Soulbound line, Ulfenkarn: City at the Edge of Death. We’re checking out some of the new Player Character Archetypes this week. In a prior Blogpost, we revealed the Archetype art for the Aelven Exile, Last Scion, Shyishan Scholar, and Vampire Hunter, and today we’re going to complete the roster by revealing the Doomsayer and Ogor Mercenary.

‘Doomsayer’ by Clara-Marie Morin

Originating from the remnants of the God-King’s Cult of the Comet, only scant few Doomsayers remain in the Cursed City. Radukar has hunted the cult to near extinction to suppress as much of the God King’s presence in Ulfenkarn. But the Doomsayers are mighty Miracle-wielding warriors with access to Sigmar’s toolkit of Miracles; it’s up to them to rally the Ulfenkarni, and make the people believe that the God-King has not abandoned them to the Wolf’s rule.

‘Ogor Mercenary’ by Clara-Marie Morin

Unless you’re a Vampire, food is scarce wherever you go in the Cursed City. Yet Ulfenkarn, better known to some as the ‘wolf’s feast’, has managed to attract Ogor Mercenaries, coming to the city to seek feast and fortune. This Archetype features the raw strength and bloodlust one would expect from any Age of Sigmar Ogor, and their unique Talent lets them devour the flesh of fallen foes to keep their bellies full and recover some Toughness – though I wouldn’t expect more than a bland bone-broth out of the city’s skeletal Ulfenwatch.

Each of Ulfenkarn’s Archetypes was inspired by the original six heroes from the Cursed City board game. But as always, our Character Archetypes are examples of the kind of characters you can create using our freeform character creation system – by using a combination of traits from the original Soulbound core book and the new options available in Ulfenkarn; you can create a wide range of powerful cursed-city survivors! As a bonus, Ulfenkarn contains an updated ‘Grim and Perilous’ ruleset, allowing players and GMs to develop characters and run encounters that are more cut-throat horror-fuelled adventures, as befits the Cursed City.

That’s all we can share with you today. We’ll have more to share with you as we creep ever closer to Ulfenkarn’s release. Suppose you’re as hungry as an Ogor to get stuck into the Cursed City. In that case, you can begin your feast with an appetiser by checking out Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound, Vossheim’s Holdouts – a fantastic one-shot Soulbound adventure set as a prologue to the events and state of the City at the Edge of Death.
