A Life Well Lived accompanies an adventurer throughout their life, from their humble origins through their heroic quest, and ultimately, if they’re lucky, their retirement from the dangerous path of adventure.

A Life Well Lived was our chance to expand upon som underserved elements of 5e, allowing players to discover who they were before they took up the sword or staff, what they get up to around the campfire during an adventure, how they unwind and who they return to when the threat has passede of the more, and finally, who they will become when they retire from a dangerous life of perilous questing.

Characters and Campaigns

A good GM always wants to integrate the characters into their worlds, but it can be hard to know which threads to pull that will have the most impact. When players build their characters with A Life Well Lived, the GM learns about all the possible characters and events that they can take into their own hands. Hearing that your player has a sickly mother afflicted by a magical disease, that they were visited by a mysterious group of wandering entertainers as a child, or that they hid a murderous uncle out of shame and dishonour offers so much potential for the GM to take these plot hooks and work them into the overall story. Players are encouraged to work through the Lifepath system alongside the other players and the GM so that everyone has a full understanding of the potential plots, moments of connection, and intricate backstory that gets everyone at the table invested in each other's stories and the shared story of the main campaign.

When it’s time to say goodbye to your adventurers, there’s no better send-off than using the retirement chapter to see your character off into the sunset. Discover what life they lead as the years go by, and how they might support the party from the sidelines. 

When adventure beckons them back into the fray, A Life Well Lived gives you the tools to redesign your character, seeing how their years away have changed their abilities.

Between Adventures

With the introduction of Camcraft Activities and Downtime Activities, players can continue the story in the quiet moments between adventures. 

During a Long Rest, characters can cook meals to strengthen the hungry party, scrub up nicely to impress potential allies, entertain a crowd with an impromptu show, or write letters to their loved ones about their adventures. We know players have so much they want to say about their characters, and these moments allow them to give their characters a chance to shine.

When the fighting is over, the big bad has been vanquished, or the journey has come to an end, Downtime Activities allow players to tell more intricate stories and prepare for their next adventure. Characters can adopt a pet and teach them new tricks, dig for treasure, learn new cantrips or master a favourite spell, or pass on their skills to their families back home.

Enrich Your Stories

A Life Well Lived allows you to settle down and build a Base with your party, a customisable home where you can spend all your hard-earned gold. Choosing from a catalogue of rooms and features, you and your party can create a completely unique Base tailored to your every need.

The players and the GM can also create a group Patron — a powerful figure who oversees the party and lends their support. However, these Patrons come with enemies and liabilities of their own, creating opportunities for exciting overarching stories to uncover alongside your adventures!
