In Thrall of the Everhungering Ghoul Sword

“My will is inviable and my thirst eternal”

- Acraxor the Bound

In Thrall of the Everhungering Ghoul Sword is a blood-soaked love letter of a zine to the OSR style of roleplaying. A labour of love and dark sacrifices, this blackened supplement is meant to show a different side of our creative minds.

The zine’s artwork was inspired by the character and flavour of old ink illustrations from the early era of TTRPGs.

We had the fortune to work together with Samuel Allan, an award-winning artist and game designer based in London, England. His character and monster illustrations have been bringing the horror in our minds to life. The looks of the fanatics worshipping this God of Ghouls has been perfected by his excellent penmanship, each inkstroke leaving us in awe.

The twisted visions of where the Altars of Bloodlust have been hidden away were realized by Veronica Wu, a self-taught RPG cartographer with a passion for fantasy, horror, the occult, and the macabre specializing in an old school black and white style. Her enthusiasm turned into the dark magic of evocative maps made the presence of Acraxor even more real.

Last, Zsombor threw his ink onto paper, smudged it into the shape of a skull, and drew occult runes around it, materializing the cursed sword as the cover. Some of his pieces decorate the pages inside too. His twisted sketches have been inspiring enough to get Chris’ mind thinking about putting words onto paper.
