Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound. Explore the Ruins of the Past.

Ready to dive into ages past? Welcome back, explorers, to another sneak peek at the supplement for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound, Ruins of the Past! This time, we’ll give you a rundown of what the book is all about.

Ruins of the Past features nine fully fleshed-out adventure locations drawn from across the Mortal Realms in the Age of Sigmar. Each has a unique and powerful centrepiece — like a Stormvault, ancient artifice, or other artefacts of great mystery — and a host of enemies and challenges guarding it.

Each adventure location provides a standard rundown of information, tools to help you understand the location better and clearly present it to your players — beginning with a general history before introducing local enemy and allied factions, and a collection of plot hooks to draw your players to the front door. Each location has a map or diagram to show how its points of interest are laid out, while a minor encounters table allows you to quickly roll to provide an adversary for your players or evoke a moment of mood or atmosphere, drawing on what’s around them.

As with all our books, we have a section dedicated to GM advice on using the book’s contents and a diverse Bestiary filled with new and iconic characters you can use in these adventures or those of your own design.

Each adventure location is designed to stand alone, easily slotted into your Soulbound campaign or run as a self-contained one-shot adventure. But we’ve also created an overarching plot allowing you to thread several, or even all nine, into one grand realm-hopping campaign — hot on the heels of realms-spanning chaotic corruption and the mystery of varanite.

And whilst the book’s content primarily focuses on providing adventure for Order parties, many locations are of equal interest to the Champions of Death and Champions of Destruction. Death bindings can find as much wealth hidden in the secrets of the Ashen Necropolis or the countless souls trapped within Aighmaris’ Chorrileum. Send your Destruction party on a pilgrimage to the Bloodgullet Mawtribe’s home of Butcher’s Gorge, or see if they can wrestle control of the Mawgate from the Ironjawz at the Crawling Pits of Gharrentia, or even join their Waaagh!
