We have been busy play-testing the upcoming The One Ring – The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying Game 2nd Ed here in the C7 office.

The One Ring Producer Emmet Byrne, artist JG O' Donoghue (who's work you may recognise from The Shire and Minas Tirith pieces), Wrath & Glory Producer Zak Dale-Clutterbuck and CEO Dom McDowall had a fun and eventful run-through of our Starter Set adventure after work last week. The adventure, written by Jacob Rodgers, is set in The Misty Mountains and sees the heroes tasked by Gandalf with retrieving and ancient relic that has the ability to rouse Giants from their slumber. The Company must find the artefact before it falls into the hands of The Enemy, and then travel down the Anduin to meet Gandalf in Minas Tirith. The adventure does a fantastic job of teaching new players how to play The One Ring and is also a great introduction to veterans, who can get up to speed on many of the changes with second edition.

I’ve been roleplaying since the tender age of almost-10, when I accidentally bought a Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set thinking it was an electronic game (that’s a boardgame with electronic bits for you millennials!). It took a few months to really “get it,” but I was hooked and from that point on most of my trips to the mall were spent in bookstores and hobby stores looking for the next great RPG to play with my friends!

My involvement with Cubicle 7 began just after I’d started writing professionally. I loved the first edition of Victoriana and got a writing gig (okay, begged incessantly until they said yes!) for the second edition. I soon found myself as line editor and helped guide Victoriana through its third edition.

The unbreakable oaths of the Fyreslayers are legendary and the Doomseeker epitomises their stubborn sense of honour. No one knows what could drive a Duardin to swear an oath so mighty as to banish them from their own lodge and nor would any who have sworn such an oath ever say, for a Doomseeker is as reticent as they are proud. Today we’re looking at another Archetype for Age of Sigmar: Soulbound — the commanding Kurnoth Hunter of the Sylvaneth.  

Guardian of the Sylvaneth

Cultivated to serve as a defender of the natural order, you wield bow, sword, and scythe to oppose all who threaten the Sylvaneth.

The Kurnoth Hunter is a Free Spirit cultivated by Alarielle as one of her elite warriors. His purpose is to hunt down those who threaten the natural order. In this role he is well-equipped, able to move swiftly and silently across the land. Physically he is a formidable opponent, much larger than a dryad and with a body encased in thick, armour-like bark. The Kurnoth Hunter is more than simply a soldier, however. He will stalk enemies of the Sylvaneth with indefatigable resolve, biding his time until he is certain of success. Many times his hunts will take him far beyond the boundaries of an enclave, well into lands claimed by enemies. Yet nothing will stay a Kurnoth Hunter from his task, for
