Producer Emmet Byrne was interviewed by TableTop Games UK recently about Cubicle 7's upcoming Age of Sigmar: Soulbound RPG. Check out the interview here or read the text below.

Q: Who are you and what do you do on the development of Age of Sigmar: Soulbound?

A: My name is Emmet Byrne. I’m the Producer on Soulbound, as well as co-designer with Dominic McDowall, our CEO here at Cubicle 7.

Q: For those unaware, what is Age of Sigmar: Soulbound?

A: Age of Sigmar: Soulbound is a tabletop roleplaying game set in the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar universe. It’s the first RPG ever for Age of Sigmar, so it’s pretty exciting to be a part of!

Q: How long has Soulbound been in development?

A: I’ve been working on Soulbound for close to a year now, but Dom and the team have been working on it for a bit longer.

Q: Did this project come as a proposition from Games Workshop to yourselves or did you seize the initiative and seek it out from them yourselves?

A: Games Workshop were already

We were excited to reveal the logo for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound last Monday! But what does it mean to be Soulbound? Producer Emmet Byrne gave some insight into how it will shape your adventures in the Mortal Realms.

AN ANCIENT ORDER

The Soulbound are an ancient order dating back to the Age of Myth. During this time the Pantheon of Order created the Soulbound as both servants of the gods and guardians of the Realms. As the Pantheon of Order shattered and the Mortal Realms descended into the Age of Chaos, the Soulbound faded into memory. Now, in a time of utmost need, Sigmar has called on the other gods to join together and resurrect the lost order. Many ignored the God-King’s call but some answered, and now the Soulbound once more walk the Mortal Realms.

Our team are hard at work finishing off the revised Wrath & Glory Rulebook. Producer Zak Dale-Clutterbuck and writer Jon Woodhouse have been testing new Stealth mechanics, which explains why we haven't been able to find them for a few days.  

Ross Watson has continued to lend his instrumental insights to refine the rules and address errata. The revised Rules will be fully compatible with the original system, with clarifications, balance fixes, and optional extras, all presented in an easy to grasp new layout.

We have been busy play-testing the upcoming The One Ring – The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying Game 2nd Ed here in the C7 office.

The One Ring Producer Emmet Byrne, artist JG O' Donoghue (who's work you may recognise from The Shire and Minas Tirith pieces), Wrath & Glory Producer Zak Dale-Clutterbuck and CEO Dom McDowall had a fun and eventful run-through of our Starter Set adventure after work last week. The adventure, written by Jacob Rodgers, is set in The Misty Mountains and sees the heroes tasked by Gandalf with retrieving and ancient relic that has the ability to rouse Giants from their slumber. The Company must find the artefact before it falls into the hands of The Enemy, and then travel down the Anduin to meet Gandalf in Minas Tirith. The adventure does a fantastic job of teaching new players how to play The One Ring and is also a great introduction to veterans, who can get up to speed on many of the changes with second edition.
