UNEXPECTED TOR2 UPDATE
‘I am with you at present,’ said Gandalf, ‘but soon I shall not be. I am not coming to the Shire.’
We have some very unfortunate and unexpected news to share. Contractual differences arose recently which we have been unable to resolve, and so we have decided to end our licensing agreement with Sophisticated Games. It is with regret that we have made this very tough decision to withdraw.
This means we will cease publishing The One Ring and Adventures in Middle-earth™ in the first half of 2020. Unfortunately, this doesn’t give us enough time to release the much-anticipated The One Ring – The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game second edition.
As many of you know, our first edition of The One Ring is eight years old, and we had high hopes of a full product line to support our second edition. Our team have worked incredibly hard on this new edition; with many of the announced titles already written and edited, so being very close to completion makes this decision even harder.
Although we

Wrath & Glory
#40kFriday
We’re working hard to finish the Rulebook and cannot wait to get it into your hands! Today, we wanted to recap on all that we have shared so far and make sure you are up to date!
Since we revealed that we will be publishing Warhammer 40,000 roleplaying games there has understandably been many questions. Below we answer the most asked!
I bought the core book before Cubicle 7's announcement, will I need to buy it again?
No! We love Wrath & Glory; it’s the perfect system to jump into adventure in the Age of the Dark Imperium. We’re not going to change the game, so if you own a Core Rulebook it will be fully compatible with all of the adventures and supplements coming soon.
Will you update the current PDF?
We’ll add our revised PDF to the existing one on DrivethruRPG once its ready. If you purchased just the physical copy originally, don’t worry – we will also publish a free PDF that will highlight major changes so you can get that info easily.
Will the new core be compatible

Candle flames reflected in the two men's eyes. Around them in the underground room lay papers, manuscripts, scrolls and books in various ancient languages with pages marked and margins filled with scribbled notes. One table was a jumble of alchemical equipment, its glassware cold and blackened.

WFRP: Crime & Punishment
#WARHAMMERWEDNESDAY
We have another WFRP blog post to share this week. So, if you missed last weeks you can catch up on The Art of War here. Otherwise let's hand over to Ben for this weeks post on Crime & Punishment! As always, we'd love to hear what you think on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
Hi All,
Let’s be frank for a moment: most adventurers in the Old World have encountered run ins with the law. In fact, if we’re going off of the Careers which can take the Criminal Talent, a full third of Characters are expected to be known criminals, let alone the successful unknown variety. This air of criminality invariably means the Characters are going to come face-to-face with the law… and I’m not so sure they’re always going to come out on top.
Today we’re going to talk about crime and punishment in the Old World: how to handle it at the table, and how to make the loss of player agency fun.
Getting Set Up
The first thing we need to do before we start locking the Characters up in jail cells

Team Tuesday - Chris Walz
#TeamTuesday. This week we want to introduce one of our US team members, Chris Walz. Chris is a long time RPG fan and a staff editor for C7!
My love of roleplaying games began around the age of four or five, when I would go down to my older brother’s room and look at the pictures in his books. They had weird floating eye monsters, knights, sorceresses, and horned devils — I was hooked. I was lucky enough for him to bring me into his games as I grew up and ate up every piece of roleplaying content I could find, from actual gamebooks to video games and novels.
When it came time for university, I really had no idea what I wanted to do that would be ‘useful’, so I picked something I thought would be fun. Perhaps needless to say, but a degree in Classics and a keen interest in Cicero and Marcus Aurelius isn’t the most obviously marketable skillset. What this did give me, however, was a deep love for language and how people express themselves with words, no matter which language they might use.

Wrath & Glory 40k
#40KFriday
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war — that’s why we’ve put the Wrath & Glory combat rules through their paces. Like with WFRP we want to make sure you can play your way, so we’ve added optional rules in addition to the mechanical refinements we’re making to the revised Rulebook.
New rules can be added for complex combat options, creating strategic and tactical roleplaying opportunities to extend your 15 hour life expectancy. Equally, if you want to embrace the true grim darkness of Warhammer 40,000 we’ve added some options to make every encounter a terrifying fight for survival. The horrors of the far future are also getting some more representation with an extended Bestiary with enemies at every level of play.
Though there’s only war, there aren’t only warriors. The revised Rulebook will provide extra background materials for creating characters, including expanded origins and objectives for every faction. New talents will also be included to add distinction

WFRP The Art of War
#WarhammerWednesday! We are delighted to have a new blog post from resident Warhammer expert, Ben Scerri!!
As I’m sure you’re all aware, by now, I take Warhammer very seriously. The game — the setting — means a lot to me, so I want to make sure I can give as much back as possible. In that interest, I’ve started practicing some historical European martial arts — namely George Silver’s style of backsword, but hopefully longsword and some spear work in the near future — and it has already paid off considerably. Today, I want to talk about weapon choice: what it means, which ones are best, and what you can do to really make Combat shine in your campaigns.
Some Ground (Optional) Rules
I’ve spoken before about Optional Rules, and which ones I think serve Combat the best. In that spirit, I’m going to build off that foundation, and make the assumption that you’re using the following in your campaigns:
- Fast SL (page 152): I personally find it more dramatic to roll and immediately call out the SL,
