‘I will tell you for nothing — stay away from Sylvania. If you are fool enough to go, then you have to be prepared. Take guards, and a guide who knows the province. The roads are worse than anywhere civilised, so be prepared for slow going when the weather gets bad. The coaching inns are havens in that blighted land, but even there, things aren’t always quite right.

You don’t want to find out what the forest and fens hold in the darkness. You see strange ruins in the day and lights at night, but those who look to explore them do not always return. The main routes, water and land, are at least reasonably well travelled and the traders and merchants you meet are usually friendly, if wary. But even then…

Don’t laugh… but you cannot even trust the dead to stay dead — I have seen dead soldiers clamber from the murky waters of the Stir, board a barge, and tear a man to pieces, I swear by Sigmar.

I’ll say it again — stay away from Sylvania.’
—Klaus Klopp, Former Holder of the Vanhaldenschlosse Trade Warrant

The cursed county of Sylvania is the darkest corner of the Empire, its peoples cowed and superstitious, and the land blighted and dangerous. Though supposedly defeated, the threat of the vampire counts still looms large in the minds of the frightened populace, who hang witchbane from the doors and hurry home before dark. Venturing there is not advised, but there are opportunities to be found in the darkest of places…

Within the Sylvania Setting Guide, you will discover haunting descriptions of iconic locations like Castle Drakenhof, the gloomy capital of Waldenhof, and the feculent marshes of Hel Fenn, all supported by new travel tables designed for traversing treacherous roads and sodden fens. To populate your tales, the guide introduces several gloomy patrons, alongside a haunted selection of NPCs. Whether facing sinister von Carstein tax collectors, vampiric nobles, strange marsh druids, or dour priests of Morr, each entry includes roleplaying advice and statblocks to bring the dark corners of the Empire to life.

Survive the night in the cursed county. The Sylvania Setting Guide is coming soon to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.
