The Tech-Priesthood of the Macharian Sector all look to the legendary voidship, Recollections of Rust, for guidance and governance. Though few among them will ever get the chance to bask in the glory of its ancient decks and witness firsthand the Martian-red rust that collects throughout its halls, as it travels across the sector, the Ark Mechanicus leaves its mark on each forge world it passes by.

If you are a budding Tech-Priest or Gamemaster looking to board the Recollections of Rust and bring a host of technological mysteries to your table, the Adeptus Mechanicus Guides for Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Imperium Maledictum are essential supplements to fuel your TTRPG experiences.

The Legendary Ark Mechanicus
Arks Mechanicus are vessels born from ancient knowledge, and their origins and means of manufacture have largely been lost to time. They are all exceptional and vast voidships, heavily fortified, combat-ready and self-sufficient. Armed with batteries of nova cannons and lance arrays, the mere threat of its presence can turn the tide of a battle. While distant Mars is a symbol that most of its adherents will never reach, Recollections of Rust is a mobile and inspiring presence, despite its long and troubled service. In many ways, it is a shadow of its former self.

Beyond their void-faring and combat capabilities, and key to the Tech-Priesthood’s reverence, Arks Mechanicus hold within their hulls manufactorum lines. They are capable of producing incredible war machines and crucial materiel that the Imperium needs to further its conquests across the galaxy.

The Adeptus Mechanicus’ Seat of Power
The Ferric Triumvirate, three Tech-Priests who lead the Adeptus Mechanicus in the Macharian Sector, use Recollections of Rust as their base of operations. It travels across the sector, accompanied by a flotilla of Imperial voidships, both to ensure their safety and protect their power. Since the Macharian Heresies, the Ark Mechanicus has charted a circuitous route through the sector, a continuous pilgrimage taking well over a decade and dozens of Warp transitions to complete, as it visits the Adeptus Mechanicus’ major holdings and points of interest.

It may emerge almost anywhere in the sector at any time, and Fabricator Generals are rarely prepared for the flotilla’s sudden passage by their forge worlds. That uncertainty, and the fear it breeds, is a deliberate instrument by which the Ferric Triumvirate maintains discipline within the Cult of Mars.

Recollections of Rust is explored in the Adeptus Mechanicus GM’s Guide, and can be chosen as a character Origin in the Adeptus Mechanicus Player’s Guide. It serves as the driving vehicle for the Explorator Macharia campaign — but any party pursuing Adeptus Mechanicus-themed investigations can use it as a base of operations, complete with a roster of intriguing Contacts, facilities to aid in downtime Endeavours, and even large enough to serve as a setting for investigations and mysteries within its massive ancient hull.
