Imperium Maledictum - A Look Towards the Future
With the release of the Imperium Maledictum Core Rulebook, it presents an opportune moment to delve into what lies ahead for the line. We’re very excited to see what players and gamemasters make of the grim and treacherous Macharian Sector. Our enthusiasm to reveal our plans for Imperium Maledictum is immense, and we look forward to sharing them with you in due course. For now, let’s take a look into the immediate future, and then a brief glimpse of what lies further ahead!
Following closely on the heels of the Core Rulebook is the Imperium Maledictum GM Screen, with its stunning three-panel design and accompanying 32-page booklet of Macharian Miscellania. Within its pages, you will find a wealth of content ranging from NPC generation tables, short adventures, and unusual events, features, and objects that capture the sector's distinctive character.
Later in the year we will also be releasing the Imperium Maledictum Starter Set. This will showcase the familiar, high-quality style that Cubicle 7’s Starter Sets are known for. Set on the perilous hive world of Voll, the Starter Set will provide players with a thrilling introduction to the world and rules of Imperium Maledictum. It comes complete with a range of pregenerated characters, engaging adventures, intriguing NPCs, and a guide to the towering edifice of greed, hubris, and brutality that is Hive Rokarth.

We have big plans for Imperium Maledictum, but instead of discussing projects that are still months away, let's delve into the design philosophy behind the game line. Our aim with IM is to provide a standalone, immersive experience with a plethora of character options, adventure hooks, enemies, psychic powers, simple vehicle rules, and more. We have a free adventure PDF, printed adventure compilations, and substantial campaigns in the pipeline, ensuring gamemasters have an abundance of content at their fingertips very soon.
However, the core rulebook also acts as a hub for future expansions, with a focus on the various bodies of the Adeptus Terra that rule (or at least try to rule) the Imperium. These factions are a key part of IM, and are available as options for character and patron creation, and the reputation you enjoy (or are burdened with) with each one can have immense effects. These include the Astra Militarum, the Adeptus Mechanicus, and the Inquisition, among others.
As we continue to develop the line, we plan to explore many of these factions in greater depth, with GM and player-focused books allowing groups to create entire campaigns centered around them. Players won't need a whole new core rulebook to explore the Adeptus Mechanicus or the Holy Orders of the Emperor's Inquisition, but can instead pick up a supplement with familiar rules and new options for creating a character of that faction. GM-focused supplements will provide tools to craft intriguing stories of Inquisitorial crusades or a Rogue Trader's perilous explorations without requiring an entirely new roleplaying game. As IM remains a single gameline, every supplement will be compatible, allowing players and GMs to mix and match content from different supplements to explore almost any aspect of the vast Imperium.
The first of these faction expansions will focus on the Inquisition, the secretive servants of the Emperor’s will, whose tireless work purports to keep the Imperium safe — even from itself. This two book expansion will contain everything players and GMs need to undertake adventures and campaigns across the Macharian Sector, rooting out what heresies have lingered since the vaunted days of the Macharian Crusade, and perhaps committing a few of their own…
